Edgeless construction trade-offs
Edgeless paddles drop the plastic guard around the perimeter, extending the playable face to the edge of the paddle. The result is a slightly larger effective sweet spot and a marginally more solid impact feel.
The downside is drop damage. Without an edge guard, scraping the paddle on the court — which all of us do at some point — can chip the face material. Repairs are harder than on guarded paddles. Most edgeless paddles ship with USAPA approval, so tournament play is fine.
